KG9501 Series Lay-out Recommendation
Grounding Design
GAIA Converter recommend four layer boards. outer layers will used power ground planes, inner layers levels signals. Where necessary, extra planes beef-up high current paths added inner layers. recommend that layer, located closest modules, used ground planes divided into parts follow primary ground part, divided into sub-parts (see KG9501 datasheet further information) secondary ground parts, Both parts must large possible spread over entire surface board; grid could used avoid complete copper surface. GAIA Converter recommend decoupling common mode noise capacitance (10nF) between primary secondary ground planes. more than module used, additionnal common mode noise capacitance recommended. modules available) connected either primary secondary ground plane sides shielding achieved with ground plane.
Component Trace Routing Design
component placement also factor between good result nightmare. first step placing component determine power flow through board. most popular flow structure from side board other avoiding cross-overs. more than DC/DC modules used recommended place modules side-by-side that power signals easily routed avoiding croos-overs. also recommended leave inch between each module avoid that radiation from power stage module affect control stage adjacent module cause cross-talk. second step place filter (KG9501 other) next close possible modules minimizing trace lenghts avoid phenomenum minimize loop areas straight inductances that limit effectiveness filter. When placing theses components make sure leave enough room power carrying traces through. Please consult also KG9501 datasheet additionnal routing information.
