Description
These devices designed limit overvoltages telephone line. Overvoltages normally caused a.c. power system lightning flash disturbances which induced conducted telephone line. single device provides 2-point protection typically used protection 2-wire telecommunication equipment (e.g. between Ring wires telephones modems). Combinations devices used multi-point protection (e.g. 3-point protection between Ring, Ground). protector consists symmetrical voltage-triggered bidirectional thyristor. Overvoltages initially clipped breakdown clamping until voltage rises breakover level, which causes device crowbar into low-voltage state. This low-voltage state causes current resulting from overvoltage safely diverted through device. high crowbar holding current prevents d.c. latchup diverted current subsides.These protectors guaranteed voltage limit withstand listed lightning surges both polarities. After TIA/EIA-IS-968 (replaces Part Type surge equipment faulty, provided that fault mode causes equipment unusable. There wave shapes used: 10/160 longitudinal surges 10/560 metallic surges. modems with TISP4350T3BJ connected between Ring wires (and without overvoltage protection ground), longitudinal 10/160 applied both Ring will activate TISP4350T3BJ, giving operational pass. metallic 10/560 applied between Ring wires will operate TISP4350T3BJ. TISP4350T3BJ current rating 10/560 will survive Part Type 10/560 metallic surge giving operational pass.
