FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION Figure shows simplified block diagram integrated circuit. integrated circuit comprises following functional blocks: amplifier Tuner-AGC VIF-AGC VIF-AGC detector Frequency Phase-Locked Loop (FPLL) detector Travelling Wave Divider (TWD) Digital acquisition help Video demodulator amplifier Sound carrier trap Intercarrier mixer demodulator acquisition help Audio amplifier Internal voltage stabilizer. amplifier amplifier consists three AC-coupled differential amplifier stages. Each differential stage comprises feedback network controlled emitter degeneration. Tuner-AGC VIF-AGC capacitor voltage converted internal gain control signal, tuner generate tuner output current TAGC (open-collector output). tuner takeover point adjusted with RTOP. This allows tuner matched filter order achieve optimum input level. VIF-AGC detector detector generates required gain control voltage constant video output charging discharging capacitor. Gain control performed sync level detection. newly developed circuit provides fast reaction time cope with `aeroplane fluttering'. time constants decreasing increasing gain nearly equal. Frequency Phase-Locked Loop (FPLL) detector amplifier output signal into Frequency Detector (FD) into Phase Detector (PD) limiting amplifier. During acquisition frequency detector produces current proportional frequency difference between input signal. Digital acquisition help
TDA9880T
After frequency lock-in phase detector produces current proportional phase difference between input signal. current either frequency detector phase detector converted into voltage VIF-PLL filter, which controls frequency. Travelling Wave Divider (TWD) Resistor Capacitor (RC) operates integrated relaxation oscillator double picture carrier frequency. control voltage required tune actually double picture carrier frequency generated FPLL detector loop filter control input terminal. oscillator signal divided-by-two with which generates differential output signals with degrees phase difference independent frequency.
integrated relaxation oscillator very wide frequency range from approximately (after TWD). prevent false locking FPLL with respect catching range frequency detector maximum ±2.5 MHz, Digital Acquisition Help (DAH) provides current into loop filter until frequency window ±2.3 around wanted frequency. this case analog operating FPLL will lock carrier acquisition help does provide current loop filter. principle digital acquisition help follows: connected downcounter, which preset depending required frequency. counting time, well counter control, derived from reference signal. This signal supplied from internal crystal oscillator from reference oscillator external tuning system. counting result after counting cycle corresponds actual frequency. digital also derived from counting result after counting cycle digital-to-analog converting last four bits counter. Video demodulator amplifier video demodulator realized multiplier which designed distortion large bandwidth. vision input signal multiplied with phase' signal travelling wave divider output.

demodulator acquisition help demodulator realized narrow-band with external loop filter, which provides necessary selectivity. achieve good selectivity, linear phase detector constant input level required. intercarrier signal from intercarrier mixer gain controlled amplifier phase detector it's output signal controls (via loop filter) integrated relaxation oscillator. possible frequency range from MHz. result locking oscillator frequency tracks with modulation input signal; therefore, oscillator control voltage superimposed voltage. this FM-PLL operates demodulator. voltage present loop filter buffer with gain audio amplifier. digital acquisition help operates same described Section "Digital acquisition help AFC". Audio amplifier audio amplifier consists parts: preamplifier operational amplifier with internal feedback, high gain high common mode rejection. voltage from demodulator, principle small output signal, amplified operating point control circuit (pin decouples amplifier from voltage PLL. low-pass characteristic amplifier reduces harmonics intercarrier signal sound output terminal. required, de-emphasis network realized amplifier output resistance external capacitor. output amplifier provides required output level rail-to-rail output stage. This amplifier makes input selector switching mute state, automatically controlled mute switching voltage from digital acquisition help order avoid lock-in noise. During normal operation automatic audio mute function active. Application resistor between intercarrier output (pin ground will activate automatic audio mute function. Internal voltage stabilizer band circuit internally generates voltage approximately independent supply voltage temperature. voltage regulator circuit, controlled this voltage, produces constant voltage 3.55 which used internal reference voltage.

There soldering method that ideal surface mount packages. Wave soldering still used certain surface mount ICs, suitable fine pitch SMDs. these situations reflow soldering recommended. Reflow soldering Reflow soldering requires solder paste suspension fine solder particles, flux binding agent) applied printed-circuit board screen printing, stencilling pressure-syringe dispensing before package placement. Several methods exist reflowing; example, convection convection/infrared heating conveyor type oven. Throughput times (preheating, soldering cooling) vary between seconds depending heating method. Typical reflow peak temperatures range from top-surface temperature packages should preferable kept below thick/large packages, below small/thin packages. Wave soldering Conventional single wave soldering recommended surface mount devices (SMDs) printed-circuit boards with high component density, solder bridging non-wetting present major problems. overcome these problems double-wave soldering method specifically developed.
