Board configuration
3.1. Voltage supply ST486DX2V ST486DX4V processors must powered with: 3.45V± 0.15 (3.3V< 3.6V). must modify board jumpers order comply with this requirement. board cannot support this configuration, please contact your board supplier order clarify that point with him. case ST486DX2V ST486DX4V should installed motherboard which doesn't allow user switch power supply correct value. 3.2. Clock selection ST486DX2V ST486DX4V exist different version depending internal core clock frequency they support ST486DX2V66 (66MHz) ST486DX2V80 (80MHz) ST486DX4V100 (100MHz)
motherboards find open market offer various configurations type, Voltage supply, cache configuration clock selection. This possible setting right jumpers right value. ST486DX2V/DX4V following items must taken account when intend install them motherboard: Voltage supply Clock selection Cache mode System Management Mode (SMM) Power Management (PM) First must properly supply voltage processor. careful, wrong voltage damage processor and/or reduce reliability.

APPLICATION NOTE
ST486DX2V required that motherboard equipped with jumper allowing user select ratio between internal external clocks. This jumper must order select ratio. board cannot support this configuration, please contact your board supplier order clarify that point with him. ST486DX4V clock ratio either clock input (external clock) different values depending jumper settings. motherboards find open market generally allow user select following values clock input: -25MHz -33MHz -40MHz -50MHz ST486DX2-V66 jumpers must order select 33MHz clock input. same way, ST486DX2V-80 jumpers must order select 40MHz clock input. ST486DX4V-100 there possibilities selection clock input. clock ratio selected jumper settings must such select 33MHz. clock ratio selected jumper settings must such select 50MHz.
board cannot support those configurations, please contact your board supplier order clarify that point with him. Cache mode, System Management Mode Power Management Both ST486DX2V/DX4V processors support Write-Back internal cache, System Management Mode Power Management. Those features have unique handshake compatible with pinout P24D. general configuration board must order support P24D. After configuring board described, whenever notice that your system doesn't perforrm should, must change jumper settings follows: -Detect jumper that linked processor with Ohmmeter. -Configure this jumper processor P24D. Note: board cannot support this configuration select configuration that suits i486DX2 processors with green functions. that case board will internal write back cache mode. board cannot support this configuration, select theconfiguration that suits i486DX2 processors that case board will internal write back cache mode
