Modulation
modulation binary form amplitude modulation. When logical (data line low) being sent, transmitter off, fully suppressing carrier. this state, transmitter current very low, less than 1mA. transmitter basically negative resistance oscillator whose center frequency tightly controlled resonator. (Surface Acoustic Wave) resonators fundamental frequency devices that resonate frequencies much higher than crystals. output oscillator derived directly from collector oscillator transistor. therefore, very sensitive VSWR. module designed work with load, which exhibits VSWR designer must ensure that antenna exhibits more than VSWR guarantee operation. This particularly true trace antennas. module does appear have output antenna port, likely that antenna does meet this requirement. TROUBLESHOOTING HINT: module appears have output antenna port, following: disconnect antenna 1000pF series with resistor ground. This will ensure that transmitter properly loaded. Then look output with scope should oscillator working. working, antenna properly tuned that reason that module working properly. not, then check power supply data input proper voltage levels.
Data Rate
oscillator start-up time order 40uSec, which limits maximum data rate kbit/sec. TROUBLESHOOTING HINT: module appears have good output, your data rate corrupted, that could sign that start-up time oscillator long. load antenna affects oscillator startup time. determine start-up time oscillator, channel digital storage oscilloscope. Attach channel data input channel antenna output (don't worry, won't affect antenna VSWR). Trigger scope rising edge channel Now, toggle data from high capture resulting waveform. should square edge channel oscillator ring-up channel Measure time between rising edge channel when oscillator waveform full voltage swing, have start-up time. determine antenna problem, remove place 1000pF series with 51-ohm resistor ground repeat test. start-up time correct with test load, problem antenna.
Power Supply
RCT-433-AS designed operate from -12V power supply. crucial that this power supply very quiet. power supply should bypassed using 0.01uF low-ESR ceramic capacitor 4.7uF ceramic capacitor. These capacitors should placed close power pins possible.

antenna output. will support most antenna types, including printed antennas integrated directly onto PCB. performance different antennas varies. There many good application notes available that describe external trace antennas. maintain list technical support section website. DESIGN HINT "Antenna traces": time trace longer than 1/8th wavelength frequency carrying, should micro strip. This ensures that proper match maintained between transmitter output antenna. DESIGN HINT "Harmonic Filter": impedance antenna power affects VSWR, power output, harmonic output transmitter. most cases, output transmitter need low-pass filter reduce harmonic emissions. good calculator available line Calculate filter cut-off module's center frequency plus 10%. example, cut-off 433.92 module would about MHz. DESIGN HINT "T-Pad": RCT-433-AS transmitter sensitive unbalanced unmatched loads could fail operate operate intermittently this condition. match your antenna load close ohms possible. T-pad necessary give transmitter close match before your antenna. T-pad will also attenuator. figure below, T-pad match/attenuator circuit.
