Low-Cost, Low-Power, 8-Bit DACs with 3-Wire Serial Interface SOT23
MAX5383/MAX5384/MAX5385 low-cost, 8-bit digitalto-analog converters (DACs) miniature 6-pin SOT23 packages have simple 3-wire, SPITM/QSPITM/ MICROWIRETM-compatible serial interface that operates 10MHz. MAX5383 internal reference operates from +2.7V +3.6V supply. MAX5384 internal reference operates from +4.5V +5.5V supply. MAX5385 operates over full +2.7V +5.5V supply range internal reference equal VDD. MAX5383/MAX5384/MAX5385 require extremely supply current only 150µA (typ) provide buffered voltage output. These devices power zero code remain there until code written registers. This provides additional safety applications that drive valves other transducers that need power-up. MAX5383/MAX5384/ MAX5385 include 1µA, low-power shutdown mode that features software-selectable output loads 100k, ground.

This current mirrored equally weighted current sources. switches control outputs these current mirrors that only desired fraction total current-mirror currents steered output. current then converted voltage across resistor, this voltage buffered output buffer amplifier.
Detailed Description
MAX5383/MAX5384/MAX5385 voltage-output, 8-bit DACs ensure monotonic performance offering full 8bit performance with less than 1LSB integral nonlinearity error less than 1LSB differential nonlinearity error. devices simple 3-wire, SPI/QSPI/ MICROWIRE-compatible serial interface that operates 10MHz. They include internal reference, output buffer, three low-current shutdown modes, making these devices ideal low-power, highly integrated applications. Figure shows devices' functional diagram.
Output Voltage Table shows relationship between code analog output voltage. 8-bit code binary unipolar with 1LSB (VREF/256). Since MAX5385 generates output voltage proportional VDD, noisy power supply will affect accuracy on-board reference, thereby affecting overall accuracy DAC. circuit Figure rejects this power-supply noise powering device directly with precision voltage reference, improving overall system accuracy. MAX6103 (+3V, 75ppm) MAX6105 (+5V, 75ppm) precision voltage references ideal choices power requirements MAX5385. This solution also useful when required full-scale output voltage different from available supply voltages.
Power-Supply Bypassing Layout
Careful board layout important best system performance. reduce crosstalk noise injection, keep analog digital signals separate. ensure that ground return from supply ground short impedance, ground plane recommended.
