DN550-50 controller consists temperature sensing bridge, amplifier, power stage. heater element remotely located from controller. temperature sensing bridge made equal resistors (internal DN550-50), thermistor that located close proximity heating element, external temperature resistor. bridge, amplifier, power stage form control loop that forces power stage deliver enough power heating element until thermistor resistance (RT) equals temperature resistor (RS). external capacitor (CT) provides loop integrating capability that provides temperature stability 0.1°C better. capacitor value provides loop intergrating time constant seconds 10µF capacitor provides seconds. integrating capacitor determined through experiments provides integrating time constant approximating thermal time constant object being heated. temperature object being heated, select temperature resistor (RS) that equal value thermistor (RT) desired program temperature.
