AD7715 complete analog front low-frequency applications providing fully-differential input channel. device accepts low-level signals directly from transducer outputs serial digital word. employs sigma delta technique realize bits missing codes performance. Full data AD7715-5 available AD7715 data sheet available from Analog Devices should consulted conjunction with this Application Note when using Evaluation Board. Included evaluation board, along with AD7715-5, AD780, +2.5 ultra high precision bandgap reference, 2.4576MHz crystal digital buffers buffer signals from edge connectors. Interfacing this board provided either through 36-Way Centronics Connector through 9-way D-type connector. External sockets provided analog inputs, external reference input option external master clock option. evaluation board four power supply input pins: AVDD AGND, DVDD DGND. AD7715-5 specified with AVDD +5V. Therefore, AVDD voltage supplied board must +5V. This AVDD voltage also used power AD780 reference. AD7715-5 operated from DVDD voltage. When using 9-way D-type connector interface evaluation board possible apply DVDD voltage either DVDD input terminal board. However, when using 36-way Centronics connector interface board, voltage applied DVDD input terminal must +5V. This because Centronics connector intended connection printer port with signals driven from supplies. board from single supply, simply connect AVDD DVDD inputs together. Both AGND DGND inputs provided board. AGND connects AD7715-5 AGND also connects AD780. DGND connects DGND AD7715 digital chips board. AGND DGND planes connected AD7715. Therefore, recommended connect AGND DGND elsewhere system avoid ground loop problems. When using single supply both AVDD DVDD, only ground connection should made board. This connection should made board's AGND input terminal. Both supplies decoupled their respective ground plane with 10µF tantalum 0.1µF ceramic disc capacitors. With this link position IN(-) AD7715 connected directly AGND. With this link position IN(-) AD7715 connected SKT5. external voltage connected SKT5 used IN(-). This link option used select reference source AD7715's IN(+) input. With this link position AD7715 connected directly output on-board reference, AD780. With this link position IN(+) AD7715 connected SKT6. external voltage connected used IN(+). This link option depending type reference being used evaluation board. Although board equipped with AD780, REF-192 +2.5V reference replace same socket. When REF-192 reference used board, link should either position position position REF-192's shutdown connected DVDD, placing REF-192 normal mode operation. position REF-192's shutdown connected DGND, placing REF-192 power down mode. When AD780 reference used, link should position AD780 does have shutdown pin. This link series with analog input. With this link place, analog input SKT3 input connected directly AIN(+) input part.
